About Terrance

Terrance Ward

You are probably here because you want to know more about me. Before I give you the degrees, titles, books, or accomplishments, there is something more important you should know: none of this happened in a straight line.

I grew up in circumstances that could have made it easy to believe my future had already been decided for me. I experienced foster care. I dropped out of school. I went to prison. For a period of my life, there was far more evidence pointing toward what I might never become than what I could.

But my story kept moving.

While incarcerated, I earned my GED. That accomplishment may look small compared with the degrees that came later, but for me, it represented something much bigger. It was evidence that I could still build a different life.

And I kept building.

I went from a GED to college. From college to graduate school. From graduate school to becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic. I later earned master's degrees in healthcare administration and business, and today I am pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration in Organizational Leadership.

Along the way, I built a career in healthcare, became a leader, became an author, and started creating work around the lessons my own life forced me to learn.

None of that means I figured everything out.

I've failed. I've changed direction. I've questioned myself. I've had plans that didn't work and moments when I had to decide whether to stay where I was or start again.

That is a large part of why I do the work I do today.

I believe our experiences matter—even the ones we wish we could rewrite. They give us perspective. But they don't have to become permanent instructions for who we're allowed to become.

My hope is that something you find here—a story, a conversation, a book, an idea, or even a single question—helps you see something different in your own life.

I'm still writing my story.

And so are you.
